Armenia is a small city located in the Quindio department of Colombia, known for its lush green landscapes and coffee plantations. In recent years, it has also become a popular destination for those seeking Ayahuasca experiences. I would like to share my experience of an Ayahuasca ceremony in Armenia, Colombia, which was a truly transformative and life-changing experience.
I arrived at the retreat center early in the morning, feeling nervous and excited about what was to come. The purpose of this journey was spiritual, to know more about myself and also to help my addiction counseling to take it to another level. The ceremony was led by a local shaman, who had many years of experience working with the Ayahuasca plant medicine. We started with a traditional cleansing ritual, where we were smudged with sage smoke and blessed with flowers.
Then, we gathered around a large fire pit, where the shaman brewed the Ayahuasca tea. The tea was a dark brown color, with a bitter taste that was difficult to swallow. After consuming the tea, we sat in silence and waited for the effects to take hold.
As the medicine began to take effect, I felt a sense of intense introspection and inner exploration. The shaman played traditional music and sang icaros, which are songs used to guide the Ayahuasca experience. I felt a deep connection to the music and to the other participants, who were all experiencing their own unique journeys.
Throughout the night, I experienced a range of emotions, from intense fear and anxiety to deep joy and gratitude. I had vivid hallucinations, including seeing geometric patterns and animals, and felt a sense of connectedness to the natural world. I also felt a deep spiritual connection and felt like I was being guided by something greater than myself.
At times, the experience was challenging, and I had to confront and work through some difficult emotions and past traumas. However, with the guidance of the shaman and the support of the other participants, I was able to navigate these challenges and come out on the other side with a sense of clarity and peace.
In the days following the ceremony, I felt a sense of renewed energy and focus. I felt more connected to myself and to the world around me and had a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in my life. I also felt deep gratitude for the experience and the opportunity to connect with this ancient and powerful plant medicine.
In conclusion, my Ayahuasca experience in Armenia, Colombia was a truly transformative and life-changing journey. While the experience can be challenging at times, it can also provide profound insights and healing for those who are open and willing to receive it.
